Beer Scoring from 1 June 2026

We would like as many members as possible to record the quality of the beer they are drinking in a pub, by submitting a rating. The National Beer Scoring Scheme (NBSS) is easy to use and is accessed from each pub's page on the CAMRA web site. We rely on the scores to help us to select pubs for the Good Beer Guide and to monitor beer quality generally. You don't need training to start scoring - your opinion on the beer is just as valuable as someone else's!

Please read the information in this link: http://www.camra.org.uk/nbss

Beer scoring has changed from 1 June 2026.

If you have used the scoring system before, the changes should make it easier to do. If you haven't, then this would be a good time to start - you might find it easier than you thought.

Scoring cask ale is important. It helps CAMRA to monitor beer quality and ensure that the best pubs are selected for the Good Beer Guide and for awards.

The new ratings. A score is now one of six words, as shown below - you no longer need to use a number. If a pub has no cask ale available, there is a separate tick box to say that.

How to start. Just go to the pub's page on https://camra.org.uk/pubs, and use the 'Beer Score' button.
