Sitting in the heart of this lovely fell side village on the edge of the Northern Lakeland Fells, The Old Crown is a showcase outlet for the Hesket Newmarket Brewery, which is located in a barn immediately behind the pub. The cosy bars have interesting local pictures and memorabilia decorating the walls. Real ales are dispensed from six hand pumps. There are two separate dining areas where a range of bar snacks and meals are available, where possible made using locally sourced ingredients. The Old Crown is famous for being the first co-operatively owned pub in the country, and is popular with locals and visitors alike, with Prince Charles and Sir Chris Bonnington among its supporters.
