Since taking over in 1997 the present owners have made this probably the most popular pub in the vicinity. The winning formula includes four real ales, a superbly stocked bar, friendly efficient staff, no television and meticulous attention to detail. With a golf course and country park within two miles and plenty of other outdoor activities available locally, being on the edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it attracts visitors from far outside the North Cumbria area.
